Empty Presidential Campaign Promises

Published by katieanne at 4:24 am under Politics Edit This

With Indiana and North Carolina on the verge of giving their primary crowns, Hillary Clinton is quoted in the press as saying that today’s elections are going to be “Game Changers”.  Whilst it could be that she is covering her tracks with an politicians age-old ambiguous statement – if she wins it changes things as she’s back as a major force for the Obama camp, whereas if she loses she’s a weaker contender and therefore Obama picks up momentum – either way things change as she says.  However whilst these words could be proven true either way, with a strong politician of Hillary Clinton’s stature, these are fighting words.  A promise to her supporters, and those who are currently undecided, that she’s going to win.

Unfortunately the recent past primaries have proven the she hasn’t been able to convince enough voters that the Clintons belong back in the White House and therefore this is an empty promise that carries little or no substance.  It’s also a little worrying that at a time when the public have little expectation that the people they elect will actually do what they say they’re going to do, a presidential candidate is already giving her voters empty promises.  Humility may not be the order of the day, but there are times when saying nothing at all is better than saying the wrong thing.  Besides, I’m tired of hearing about what these people say they can do, I want to see some evidence of it!
