Health Research: A Holiday in the Sun Can Relieve Chronic Pain in Women!
OK so we women have always known that a holiday in a nice sunny climate can do wonders for our daily aches and pains, but until now it’s something that we knew but couldn’t prove was anything more than wishful thinking. Science has come to our rescue however and a recent research project has proven that women who are deficient in vitamin D, found naturally in sunshine, are apt to have more chronic pain issues than those who have an ample supply of vitamin D in their system. Yes, OK, you can get vitamin D through other sources, such as fish, egg yolks and margarine, but somehow that isn’t quite so appealing as needing sunlight to control pain levels! It doesn’t have the same ring to it. Personally, I think that a doctor’s note prescribing sunshine would lift my spirits high enough to shadow any pain issues I endure!
The research was undertaken by members of the Institute of Child Health in London who will now take their project further to explore whether or not taking vitamin D supplements can help to prevent chronic pain in women. Sorry guys, but at the moment, the research findings haven’t given you a reason to spend a little longer on the sun lounger with a cool beer in your hand!
These findings were taken from a sample group of 7000 people, both male and female, and although they are not yet at a stage where chronic pain can be eliminated, it does offer hope of being able to control at least some pain levels for people whose quality of life is affected by the level of pain they endure each day.
If you do have chronic pain issues, don’t change your diet to increase your vitamin D intake without discussing this with your doctor first. It could be that you already have the recommended dosage each day. If you aren’t sure then it’s certainly something you could have your medical practitioner explore further.

I’m not in chronic pain, but I might just have to take that prescription anyway! It would be so nice to just relax in the sun for awhile.
Health, common resource available almost every time I step outside–I can get into that. Thanks for the heads up!
