McCain to Rectify Letterman Rejection

In what was a costly PR error in someone’s strategy judgment John McCain ditched the David Letterman show last minute a few weeks ago claiming that he was on his way to sort out the country’s financial crisis.  This advice had to have come from a rookie strategist because anyone with any sense would know the outcome given that David Letterman is a very sharp comedian who isn’t that fond of the Republican party, especially its current President, as it is.  Surely someone in the McCain camp has been watching Letterman recently  and should have made sure that even if it was a walk-on, wave-by, walk-off segment, that McCain at least showed up!

I confess I love David Letterman!  His writing team write Jay Leno’s writing team off the script.  The fact that John McCain decided to drop out last minute didn’t mean that McCain was wiped off the show however.  Far from it.  The time allocated to the segment was filled instead with barbed comments about McCain and Sarah Palin.  Although these remarks were often funny, there was a high degree of truth about them that I don’t think was lost on the audience.  The comments have been on-going ever since, especially since Letterman later found out about McCain managing to make a quick stop at Katie Couric’s camp en route to Washington.  Paris Hilton must have found it funny how Letterman was going after McCain the day after he was “stood up” by the presidential nominee given how Letterman went after her when she appeared on his show following her time in prison.

Well now McCain’s going to face down Letterman this Thursday – further economic crisis requiring John McCain’s flaked crusader input notwithstanding.  Having watched Letterman make a number of celebrities squirm over questions they didn’t want to answer, this has the makings of a classic David Letterman show!

If you missed the Letterman segments, here’s the youtube version:

This should be interesting, because Dave has taken McCain to the woodshed nearly every night since McCain lied to his faced and ditched out on his show.

I would love for Dave to bring up the race baiting and death threats at McPalin rallies and press him for an actual policy position.

He’ll probably just be funny, though

Letterman is as left as left can be. He wants to degrade the conservatives and anyone else that has a base in fact in stead of ideological bias. (Remember fair and balenced Bill O’Reilly when he was on Letterman? Letterman made an complete fool of himself while trying to degrade O’Reilly.
