Are the Republicans Imploding? Party Advisers Already Blame Palin!
With the mudslinging, no focus on issues, and what we will do to create a better US, policies of the Republican Presidential campaign getting stale in the eyes of the people that the Republicans are trying to court, the tactics are turning inward. Although the verbal barrage is continuing against Barrack Obama (if you’re still unsure about the tax thing, please read this simplified table - as you’ll see the Cindy McCains of the world are going to lose out, you’re probably not!), the attacking finger pointer is turning within the party and the advisers are blaming Sarah Palin for the problems that Republicans are facing.
OK, so no great surprise for regular readers, I think Sarah Palin is less qualified than most other hockey moms (well except those who actually think Palin is experienced enough for the VP job) to be the next Vice President of the United States. I don’t think that she’s got what it takes on policy issues, I don’t think she knows enough about how the world works to be a world class leader, and I certainly don’t think she should be allowed anywhere near the Oval Office in terms of “next in line” in the next few years. Having said that, do I think she’s entirely responsible for the fact that the McCain/Palin poll numbers are consistently lagging (I’ll acknowledge now that the Fox bean counters will have some way of manipulating the numbers for a fantasy poll statistic, however for those of us living in the real world…) - absolutely not. I don’t like her in the VP situation, but the fact the Republicans are losing I believe has more to do with the advisers themselves, and not the puppets they have on center stage.
That’s what scary about this entire process. I see Barack Obama as his own person. Someone who listens to his advisers but leads his party. With the Republicans I see a party leader who is controlled by his advisers. Do we know who these advisers are? Can we trust them? What do they stand for? If the mudslinging, scripting and finger pointing is anything to go by most of them are just out of High School never mind Harvard Law! There was talk on Wolf Blitzer over the weekend that controversial statements by Sarah Palin were scripted and she is said to have questioned them but delivered the speech as required, this being the case she’s a good actress, but it highlights two things: that Sarah Palin put the advisers above her integrity, and that the advisers are running the campaign, not the candidates.
The Republican Party is going to take itself down without the need to rely on “malfunctioning ballot boxes” and “rumors about voting irregularities”. At a time in the campaign both parties are going to be tired but need to shine. If they keep on this track the Republican Party is going to shine alright, but it’s going to be short bright flash of implosion, and not the dazzling light of success!

I can only hope you’re right, and the libertarian party steps in!
Now wouldn’t that be something huh?
you know who I’ve been rooting for and everything but it has gotten really strange, at least as far as election running goes. I never thought I’d see a political figure get on Letterman to make sure they didn’t upset him. Or on SNL and hop to music. Course that being stated I did see Obama do it for Ellen D Show and his wife on a cookin one that I can’t recall now. But it just shows you how bizarre this running has been when the figures get on TV talk shows and try pleasing everyone. I can’t wait until all this is over.
I guess I thought everyone would be more serious and just speak on the topic. Both seem to be running from the questions, which doesn’t help those undecided. Okay getting off now. lol.
In case you missed it, both the New York Times Sunday Magazine and HuffPo have detailed articles about the McCain campaign’s “circular firing squad”, and Palin “going rogue”. They’re priceless.
Great post
Didn’t see the NYT one, but HuffPo is a daily must read!
As Obama said in a televised segment a few days ago, “you can’t make this stuff up!”
